Andrew is a California native who was educated at the internationally renowned Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and the School of Visual Arts in New York. Andrew spent nearly a decade in New York working with Fortune 500 companies crafting brochures, annual reports and other print collateral.
Having returned to California in 1996, Andrew continues to bring intelligent and engaging perspectives to solving everyday design problems. His work has been recognized by the New Jersey Art Directors Club, The Society of Illustrators, and Illustration West.
Andrew gives back to the design community through teaching at the collegiate level and involvement in AIGA. Outside the design community, Andrew makes sure he gives back to the community as a whole through pro bono work with noteworthy non-profit organizations.

As the senior creative, I work directly with clients to provide them with art direction, branding strategies, and concept development for capabilities brochures, branded campaigns, sales and marketing materials, brochures, direct mail, logos and stationery, websites, and multimedia presentations. I supervise 1099 labor: graphic designers, production artists, photographers, illustrators, and pre-press personnel as I oversee the entire design process from concept to press or Web deployment (doing a lot of HTML/CSS hand coding). Along with these responsibilities I also oversee all internal company branding and helped with new business development.

As the senior creative at Peter Montoya Inc., I worked directly with clients to provide them with art direction, branding strategies, and concept development for capabilities brochures, recruitment campaigns, sales and marketing materials, magazines, brochures, direct mail, logos and stationery, catalogs, websites, and multimedia presentations. I supervised graphic designers, production artists, photographers, illustrators, and pre-press personnel as I oversaw the entire design process from concept to press or Web deployment. Along with these responsibilities I also oversaw all internal company branding and helped with new business development.
As co-manager of the Art Department I had a major responsibility in building the department from scratch to 12 persons and helped manage the execution of approximately $4 million in client work per year. My responsibilities included the hiring, managing, and firing of designers and the accompanying support staff, allocating funds for the department and establishing production protocols to execute approximately 400 projects per year.
I provided art direction for sales and marketing materials, direct mail, software manuals, corporate identity, websites, multimedia presentations, and trade show exhibits. My responsibilities included concept development, art direction, project management, design, approval of color proofs, and color on press for all projects.
As the senior creative I ran the design department – from client proposals and pricing to completion of client work. My responsibilities involved every aspect of the print design process, from the initial client meeting to press checks and bindery. Along the way I art directed designers, photographers, illustrators, typesetters, and pre-press. Besides art direction, I also handled project management, scheduling, freelance staffing, photo shoots, and budgeting.
I designed everything from trade ads to editorial layouts to children’s book covers.
